The word must be out there as the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA was just loaded with fish and fishermen today. I was able to coax quite a few fish to bite offerings bounced along the bottom this morning. Water temp was 40 and the flow is still above average. When so many fishers are on the water courtesy is paramount. Those of you walking down the middle of the stream while approaching another angler already occupying a beat really need to learn some edicate. I scrammed early today as the fishers appoaching the stream looked like a herd of cattle. A stealthy approach is still needed to take the best fish that have wintered over.

Water temp on the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River was 40 degrees this morning. Flow is slightly higher than normal but very fishable. The fish are there and are tasting most offerings. This only lasts for a week or so until the stockers find there new surroundings, so get out there and give it a try. A dead drifted presentation near the bottom was the best approach and generated most of the fish today. Pattern is not as important as having the offering on the bottom.

Some reports from fishers on the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA & DE:
Colorful indicator style flies in some very large sizes accounted for a few fish in PA. Clouser style - trout sized olive over white minnows caught both rainbows and browns in the DH in PA. Caddis emergers were successfully used in the upper section of the FFO section in DE. Clyde & Pat caught and moved some fish in the DH section in PA on brown nymph/stonefly imitations. Keith H provided this pix of a fish he caught on the WCC in PA

Water temp was 39 degrees this morning and the state had stocked some fish in the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA. I was trying a new fly for the stockers and to my amazement the "blue" fly I was testing attracted a number of fish. But the amazing part was that I caught three fish on one cast. Using a three fly set up - all blue, I manages a triple. First time in my career that that ever happened. I only wished I had a camera to get those stockers up on the site. The fly is now on my good side of the box.

No chance to fish today....just shovel this morning. A report from a reliable fisher indicated some success yesterday before the storm. Let's hope our salt supplies have been consumed so we don't pollute our stream with the runoff over the next few days.

The water is running about 200 cfs about twice the normal flow and quite dirty from snow melt and rain run off. No time to fish today preparing for the next delaware state of emergency. If we lose any more business due to the state's inability to handle the snow we won't have to worry about being in business. Just send another small business failure notice to the state.

The White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA is running about twice the normal flow and looking quite tainted after yesterdays rain event. The snowy ground conditions are improving, but icy areas along the bank make approaches to the water dangerous & slippery. Suggest studding your boots for the next week or so. The fish were hard to find, although I was able to take one rainbow on an Edson Tiger Dark size 10 streamer fished tight to the bank. We are in for another snow event according to the weather report. Let's hope it moves north and we maintain fishable stream conditions for a while. We will soon have a first spring state stocking so fishing should improve with the addtion of more fish. Don't forget you can find license information under the "Our Friends" ...

We had a lot of snow melt yesterday, which means stream foot access is improving every hour. We will have even more today, especially since the ground is getting exposed in southern exposure areas. It might be worth while going for a walk with the rod today. The flows are up a little but clear, with some slight cloudiness in the lower parts of the main stem possible.
Recently, we have seen a lot of poeple taking advantage of some tying time. Right now you are probably being bombarded with fly tying articles of "new" or cool patterns. This is all great, but what if those new cool patterns don't work. I'm guilty of this seasonal illness where I tie new stuff only to find that I don't have enough of my go to flies in the box when I need them. How do I deal with this (in theory)? Well I first take an inventory of my box. For example, I use two styles of hare's ear (my go to nymphs). Right now, I have two unused and one used one in ...
