Fished the West Branch of the Delaware river near Deposit NY with a group from the WCFFover the last few days.  The little wild browns were fun to catch and my best fish was a wild rainbow about 17".  The accomodations were excellent and the comeraderie even better.  A great trip.  Give some thought to signing up for next years adventure.

Jumped out early and got my boots wet on the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in the PA preserve today.  I was able to have the creek to myself this early in the morning and the fish were rising to very small sz 24 black midges below the riffly sections I fished.  Two nice rainbows over 16 inches were in the mix today.

Catching the shad run in Deer Creek, MD has been very disappointing and my visits had spotty hit or miss catches.  Seem like the fish ran in spurts and if you were not on the creek during those blitzes you missed them in the locations on the creek I fish.  Still, the fish were fun with some larger hickories in the mix of the catch today.

WCC

May is probably the best month for fishing period.  Trout , shad, bass all play a role.  I gave the WCC DH a try this morning.  I always drift a san juan worm after an overnight rain and a number of rainbows were fooled by the weighted tan worm imitation.  If you are near Cape Henlopen this weekend, join the WCFF and the SWFAOD at the pier for the clubs salt water outing.  Guest are always welcome to join us.

PA

I had the opportunitity to fish in Potter county PA at the fishng camp of my friend Joe R the last few days.  The Alleghany had a number of complicated hatches all occuring at once so the fishing was a real puzzle.  No matter, I was able to catch native browns and brook trout on march brown mayflies, soft hackles and streamers.  The camp was comfortable and the comeraderie exceeded the quality of the fishing.
