The water was up and still rising today and the fish were holding in the slower water.  I generally fish a streamer in conditions like this and the funky streamer tied with the multicolor dyed wing did nothing, but the edson tiger dark with the original metal cheeks took two browns this morning.

A public session of the fly fishing class is being offered by the White  Clay Fly Fishers starts today, Tuesday night Feb 26th 7-9 pm for the next  6 Tuesday nights.  $25.00 fee which includes a membership to the organization.  Meets at the London Tract Meeting House corner of London Tract and Sharpless Rd in the WCC Preserve in PA.  For those of you who would like to review your knot tying, stop by and see me present knots for fly tying on the first two weekly sessions.  The club would also like to thank you for your support of this class.

I walked the creek below Good Hope Road this morning and found that the fish were spread nicely although a few of the good holes had pods of fish.  I only spend a few hours fishing and the fish I cast to wanted nothing to do with dark nymphs but chased a few streamers and bit on an egg pattern fished on the bottom.  A lot of fish were busy chasing each other around, which is pretty typical for the first few days after a stocking until the bigger fish take up the best spots.

Just back from the International Rod Building Show in Winston Salem NC, so I missed the first PA state stocking of the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA.  I plan on getting out over the next few days and will report out what I find.

Windy and cold today. Lots of ice.  Fish were hiding.   Enough said.  Yesterday evening, at the WCFF monthly meeting, I received a reliable report that the green weenie was a successful fly in the PA delayed harvest stretch and a number of browns were landed.  Fishing is open all year in the PA DH section of the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in DE and PA, just follow the regulations that are posted on numerous signs throughout the preserve. The creek is actively being patrolled by new Fish and Game agents so be sure to have your license displayed and say hello if you are approached. Congrats Ed.

A cold morning that improved into the mid morning as the fish got active and were in feeding lanes today.  Little black stone fly imitations in sz 16 18 worked to fool a number of browns.  I have not seen any hatches of this winter bug yet but I did find some nymphs under rocks I turned on the bottom.

I normally don't fish after a snowfall, but I needed some fresh air today.  Edges were still frozen and that is always a hazard for fly lines.  That anchor ice is sharp and targeting fish on or just under the edges can cut a fly line retrieved against the sharp edge.  I know about that since bad experience is a good teacher.  Just couldn't get the fish to bite today and the morning temp had icelets forming on my leader.  Just a nice valentine's morning out.

The ground has partially thawed and the muddy surface was very slick today.  So much so that I had a few near falls from slipping on the defrosted surface near the stream edges.  Just another safety top for those out and about during the winter season.  One trout today on an edson tiger dark streamer.  The water temp was 39 and the run off had the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River, slightly hazy.  Cold temps ovet the last few days had me off the stream, but today was lovely except for the slippery edges.
