Gave the delayed harvest section of the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA preserve a try today.  Misty conditions had my glasses fogging and I was slightly overdressed today.  Leaf litter is still very much a problem, but some fish were very visable in a few pools.  They can camo against the rocky/silty bottom but they stand out against the leafy bottom.  Just some observations that struck me today.  One brown and one rainbow sucked down a grey ghost stream fished with some stripping action.

The leaf litter was really starting to make fishing the top and the bottom futile.  Slow water locations are covered in leaf fall and weighted nymph patterns fished on the bottom caused hang ups about every cast.  Best option was a streamer fished across and down which resulted in one rainbow in about two hours of very tough fishing.

After hearing reports from Captn. Frank and his friend Bernie, who had a good day in the DE fly stretch and reports from members of the White Clay Fly Fishers at their monthly meeting last night, I ventured out for a morning outing on the White Clay Creek in the PA preserve this morning.  The fish were happy to strike moving streamers and a black and olive bugger worked well today.  There were plenty of fish in the section I fished thanks to the state and volunteers that floated the delayed harvest section.  Leaf litter was a problem too as it is at this time of year. A leaf hopper is a good alternate choice since the fish will see this morsel along with the leaf fall.   Be smart and wear some hunters orange as a precaution as the season progresses.

Fished the Salmon River in Pulaski NY with my friends Tom P and Carl F. last week.  This was my second trip to the river this fall.  The salmon run was steady with shots at fish most of the day.  Landed a few nice (25+ lb salmon) while fishing the water behind our hosts Stan P property at the Double Eagle Lodge.  I'll post a pix once I can figure out how to get it off my cell phone.

Spent the last week in HH island.  One outing planned but weather intervened so no red fish this trip.  The WCC in PA was stocked by the state last week.  DE gets its fall stocking late this week.  My wife and I spent the weekend in Pittsburgh visiting our new grand son Joseph.  Life is good when you have a new fishing heir.
