If you have seen John Dohms in the White Clay Creek vacinity pls call Newark police.  John has been a fly fisher in the Park and Preserve and he is still not accounted for.  See blog above.

Just got back from the Salmon River in Pulaski NY with this info.  Lots and lots of salmon running the river.  Caught Cohos, Chinook, and Atlantic variety as well as a number of brown trout.  Biggest salmon to hand was about 30 lbs.

Fished the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in PA today.  I am never surprised by what I see on the creek.  Today,  I caught a rainbow that had a small brown in its gullet.  The rainbow took a beaver nymph with the undigested fish still lodged in its mouth. Too much!

The trout I found were mixed in with creek chubs and it was hard to get a fly past either.  They were feeding and a number of nymphs dead drifted on the bottom took fish after fish.  Best fly in the bunch was a flashback PT size 14.  The White Clay Creek midge pupa also was effective today.

I fished early and hard today to make a statement to myself that all those trout with closed mouths the past few days were to be punished today.  Unknown and unknowable is the reason they look your fly straight in the eye and don't move a centimeter in response to it.  I was able to lure two rainbows to a large streamer tyed with fancy multicolor dyed wings.  The material was introduced to me by Mike Martinek at a class session this past March, and the size 4 streamer with the ty-dyed wings looked pretty darn flashy in the water.  It was all the trout would take today.

Results of the one-fly contest held on Sat by the WCCF were amazing.  Total trout caught was 5.  Amazingly total panfish winners was 131.  Largest fish was a 16" smallmouth bass.  All caught in the middle branch of the White Clay Creek a Delaware River in DE and PA.  Yes folks Doug and Ken did sixpeet on those 5 trout.  But how about a banner day for ED O'D and his tag along partner Barb B for a boatload of sunfish. Remarkable.

Water is low and the day is blue bird clear and the tally was zero.

Fished the WCFF One-Fly contest today with my partner Doug (5-time winners!).  We chose the middle branch in PA to sixpeet.

I fished a black flying ant , Doug a bugger. When I checked out early morning, I had three trout and three pan fish.  Hope Doug can add up a few more before they declare the winners this year.

The White Clay Creek, a Delaware River in DE and PA has seen some dramatic changes over the last few days of rain.  The flow was up and the muddy conditions made it slightly unfishable on Tues and Wed.  But it clears up quickly and today the conditions are back to average.  I had on a new emerger with a San Juan worm dropper and you can guess which fly took the fish.  Selecting a fly for the One-Fish-Fly contest that WCFF are holding on Sat will be easy for me to choose after todays outing.

Made a quick trip today in the early morning -  cool and breezy and a few trout on a most basic nymph and emerger setup.  Joe's white dry fly brought no strikes in two outings.  They liked a grey ribbed emerger and a beaver nymph today.
