I spent a good part of the day working on the blog - maintanence to get it working right.  I have some technical assistance too...but the blog will be down for a number of days until I can get it working properly.  Thx for all your patience while I get the site working to it's potential.

Spent a few days fishing the Salmon River in Pulaski NY with a group from the White Clay Fly Fishers.  A mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout, salmon smolt, smallmouth bass, and fall fish were the bill of fare.  Great time and good friends all.

It was the hottest day of the year and I made an attempt to fish at sundown before the lightning would chase me off the White Clay Creek in the preserve.  The fish feel that change in the weather and sometimes go on the feed.  That wasn't the case tonight, but I managed to land a couple of brown on a sulfur dry sz 16.  The water level is low and a number of locations are becoming dry leaving shoals of silt.  Let's hope for a few days with a steady rain to rejuvinate the creek.

The White Clay Creek in the PA reserve has a gauging station and I fished next to it today.  The water level and the flow seemed low.  The USGS readings indicate that is true and have been since the end of May.  I took a fish before walking out.

No use in stressing a fish in these conditions.  Too risky fishing in lightning.  Here's a little fact I learned .  Boron rods are less condutive than graphite. So if you have a boron rod from days past,  you are safer with that rod in a lightning storm.
