Thanks to those of you who are encouraging me to get that darn shop open. Nobody wants that more than me, but there have been circustances beyond my control, and I am just resolved to take it as it comes.  I am still building custom rods and doing repairs from my home workshop, and suppying custom tied flies too.  I have been doing private one-on-one lessons for those that have been able to work with me on mutual schedules. Fly casting, tying and rod building are all possible.   I have been fishing the white clay, the elk and a few venues like the salmon river, the lagoons of Cozumel, and the beaches of NC when time has permitted.  I plan on keeeping this site up until the store can get open, so thanks again for all your support.

Visited the Salmon River in NY with my friends Carl F, Tom P, Chuck R, Leah G and Barb B.  The Salmon has some very large steelhead during this part of the year.  I fish there instead of the Erie tribs in order to get that 9-15 lb steelie.  Instead it was a few small fish and a mixed bag of "other" fish, rainbow, browns and kings ( yes a few were still late spawners).

I can't explain how grateful & lucky I have been to be able to get out there and fish such beautiful places with great fishing opportunities.  But it's back to the WCC till years end.

Made a run at the "hot" spots on the White Clay Creek in PA and DE today.  Just hit a spot and move using the best fly I know for success on the WCC.  Not a green weenie or a hares ear, but my favorite streamer - Edson tiger dark fished in a size 4 today, and with the pattern including metal cheeks - just like the original,  thanks to the efforts of my friend Paul B who provided the material.  Fish seem to really strike a streamer with gusto in the fall.  Many flies are past hatching and the fish take to a good meal when its available.

Lots of rainbows fell to nymph patterns fished near the bottom today.  The leaf fall is still troublesome so patience is paramount.

Many of you have asked on the update on the shop opening , but all I can provide is no news.  My efforts to get open have been frustrated by local township inaction, so I am still just waiting for the approval for go ahead. My momentum has been slowed by trying to be located in my number one location.  Some other options seem to be bad business decisions so I am sticking it out until I can get into my first choice - even if it takes a bit longer.  Thx for your support and kind thoughts until things work out.

I almost never fish on the weekend and this is why.  The White Clay Creek has at lease 1 mile of fishable water in PA.  The rudeness created by crowding another fisher is more than I can stand.  Good manners dictate giving another fisher at least a few rod lengths of space.  After three moves based on being crowded out and  three moves to get free of other fishers crowding in,  resulted in my leaving for the day.  No report today - just annoyance.
