I saw some nice trout while walking the east path below Good Hope Road on the White Clay Creek, a Delaware river in the White Clay Creek Preserve in PA this morning.  I fished upstream from the stocking point above parkking lot 2 and caught a 16" rainbow and a 10 inch brown on a size 4 dark edson tiger streamer.  I also captured a few small fry that had a yellow cast to their scale sides and that prompted my use of the streamer today.  Other representative imitations that might work would be a mickey finn or golden darter.  Don't be afraid of offering up a larger streamer because as the fall progress the fish cannot pass up a big protein offering.  Just before I got to the car I picked off another small brown with beautiful colors on a size 16 olive caddis.  The cool nights are having a positive effect on the water temp - today 66 degrees.  If we can get a little rain and get the stream level up slightly we should have a tem ... On good information I fished the dam below London Tract Bridge on the White Clay Creek in PA.  The leafs are already starting to fall with leaf litter interfering with your casts on the water, but the smallmouth were fooled easily today on leaf hoppers (Jasid) size 14/16/18.  Both yellow wing and blue winged leaf hoppers were effective today.  I was giddy with the catch today!

Tried the White Clay Creek section in West Grove below School House Road.  The water was low and I scared a number of fish before I realized how steathy I needed to be.  I was able to catch one rainbow on a black ghost streamer size 8.  I plan on fishing some more familiar hounts the rest of the week.

Got shut out today.  No fish.  Spent 1 1/2 hours below the confluence of the middle and east branch of the White Clay Creek in PA this morning.  Couldn't buy one today.  Tried a few dozen flies, wet & dry to no avail.  Better luck tomorrow!

Had to take care of some medical issues today in Oxford so I fished the BIg Elk below Camp Saginaw.  A Black ant with a red indicator took multiple pan fish and one small mouth.  I switched to a streamer (Winnipesaukee smelt size 8) and caught two nice brown trout.  I had not fished that section this summer but the water was reasonable for late summer conditions.  The water temp at 67 degrees at 7:15am today.  I think I will visit this spot again and see how far I can wade in a two hour period with productivity.

I planned to fish with a friend this morning but had a cancellation.  The fishing was a bit slow but I had a few rainbows this morning on a grey ghost streamer.  This is good news as now I will start farming them up with my favorite fly - Dark Edson Tiger.  Streamer fishing improves on the White Clay Creek in Delaware and PA as the fall approaches.  These fish are aware that a streamer gives them the protein boost they need as other aquatic offerings are in shorter supply.  There was no short supply of caddis hatching this morning - but not a single hit on an emerger or a dry offering. Water temp was 69 today in the deepest hole I past.

A very short outing today proved very productive.  The fish were lined up at the corner of the mud bank below the London Tract bridge this morning.  At least a half dozen fish hit a zug bug or a trailing zebra jelly midge.  There had to be two dozen fish all packed into the corner.  This is not an easy spot to cast in to so position yourself correctly for the proper presentation.

A cool 64 degree morning.  Slow going at the confluence today.  A few pan fish and no trout.  Original killer bug accounted for the red eyed rock and the sunnys.  The water has cleared up and was 67 degrees this morning.

The WCC looked like choc milk yesterday so I tried the gorge at Auburn road with no success.  Today the stream cleared partially with small fines suspended.  One small brown farmed out of the Delaware FF section and two smallmouth at the DE/PA line.  Had a class to teach so my outing was short.  The water temp was down a few degrees to 68, and the water level recovered from the added rain and runoff.
